And answers.
Common questions. And answers.
How is my premium calculated?
Your premium is based on several factors, including the age and build of your home, its location, and your claims and credit history (where permitted by law). Things like security systems, smoke detectors, and the coverage and deductible choices you make also affect your rate. Discounts and rating factors vary by state and program.
What can I do to lower my homeowner’s insurance premium?
Simple steps like increasing your deductible or adding safety features such as smoke detectors, interior sprinkler systems, home security systems, and smart home devices can help reduce your premium. Talk with your insurance agent to review your coverage and find out about any discounts you may qualify for. Discounts and eligibility vary by state and program.
How can I pay my home insurance bill?
We offer several ways to pay: online via Make a Payment on our website, by phone at 866-228-7993 (or 808-237-5060 for Hawaii policies), or by mail. Contact us or your agent for the correct mailing address for your policy.
What’s the difference between replacement cost and actual cash value?
Replacement cost coverage pays the full cost to repair or replace your property at today’s prices, without deducting for depreciation (up to your policy limits). Actual cash value coverage pays the replacement cost minus depreciation, meaning you receive less based on the item’s age and condition.
How do I file a claim?
Submitting a claim is simple: by phone at 866-228-7993 (or 866-789-4228 in Hawaii), online using the “Submit Claim Online” option, or through your independent insurance agent. After your claim is filed, one of our claims professionals will contact you to learn how the loss occurred and what damages were sustained.
